All of the ideas are built around a calendar of special event dates. Some of these special event dates are well known. Some are obscure. But all of the creative ideas designed around them will make you famously known for creating unique customer experiences.
Twelve special event dates are featured for every month of the year. However, you get much more than just twelve ideas per month, you get multiple ideas for each date! Recreational Event Planning Example - College Football Bowl Games
Here are some ways to make watching fan’s favorite college football bowl games that much more interesting:
- Promote your college football bowl game parties by attaching advertising messages to items such as packs of sugar for the Sugar Bowl, to roses for the Rose Bowl, to oranges for the Orange Bowl, etc. Have an employee pass these out in busy areas the day before each game.
- Rent chair covers in school colors from a party rental store. Drape half of the chairs in your bar or nightclub with one school’s colors and the other half in the other school’s colors. Ask fans to choose which area they want to sit in.
- Put free “bowls” of munchies out for patrons. Try to match the munchies to the appropriate bowl game. For instance, put out Tostitos during the Fiesta Bowl, sugary treats for the Sugar Bowl, cotton candy flavored jellybeans for the Cotton Bowl, etc.
- Allow free entry into the college football bowl game party to customers who dress in their school colors, or in theme. For instance, during the Hula Bowl, give free entry to anyone wearing a Hawaiian shirt.
- Ask people which team they are supporting in the bowl game as they enter your bar or nightclub. Give them a sticker with their favorite team’s logo on it. The fan can keep their sticker. Or, when their team scores, they can redeem the sticker for a free shot at the bar. Make the free shots the same color as one of the colors in that team’s logo.
- As customers enter the bar, give them a mini football with a one-digit number on it. When the football game is over, customers find other customers to try and form the final score with the numbers on their footballs. For instance, if the final score was 14-27, the customer who has number 1 would try to find three other people – one with the number 4, one with the number 2 and one with the number 7 to form the numbers 14-27. Award a free bar tab to the first foursome to present themselves as the winning score.
- Put on your own halftime show on during the bowl games. Sign customers up to sing Karaoke during halftime. Don’t forget to entertain customers during the game as well by hiring your own cheerleaders and throwing out mini-football souvenirs with the two schools’ logos on them.
