Family Ties"Life was a lot simpler when what we honored was father and mother rather than all major credit cards." Celebrate Father’s Day by “tie”ing one on with... ...Your CustomersThey say, “father knows best!” Put it to the test by asking customers to submit, in 50 words or less, the best advice they ever got from their father, or someone who was like a father to them. Post each submission on a card mounted on a necktie. Hang all neckties in a display in your establishment, so customers can read the advice. Allow each customer one vote for their favorite submission. Place each person that votes in a prize drawing to be held on Father’s Day. Also on Father’s Day, reveal which submission got the most votes and give the winner a prize. ...Your EmployeesGive each employee a plain necktie. In honor of Father’s Day, challenge employees to decorate it and create a new company tie. Set up a tie decorating station where employees can get items to decorate their neckties, such as glue guns, beads, foam shapes, Sharpies, glitter, etc. Ask employees to write their name on the tag on the reverse of the necktie. Hang all completed neckties in the break room and ask employees to record their name and the name of the person whose tie they liked the most on a voting slip. Don’t allow them to vote for their own tie! The employee getting the most votes gets a prize, or is allowed to leave work early the Friday before Father’s Day to spend more time with their family. ...Your Friends & FamilyAsk family and friends – male and female - to wear a tie to your party that best symbolizes their personality. Encourage guests to question one another on why they wore the tie they did. Towards the end of the party, pass out cards and ask guests to vote for the person whose tie really matched their true nature. Award a prize to the person earning the most votes. Later in the party, ask guests to unknot their ties and have a tie-tying competition. The person who ties their tie perfectly in the quickest time wins a prize. Father’s Day isn’t the only holiday in June – Flag Day is June 14th! Want to show your American “ties” with a patriotic activity?
