License to Grill“That outdoor grilling is a manly pursuit has long been beyond question. If this wasn't understood, you'd never get grown men to put on those aprons with pictures of dancing weenies on the front, and messages like 'Come 'n' Get It!’” Nothing says “summer” and “4th of July” better than grilling, so turn up the heat on... ...Your Customers“Grill” your customers this summer and ask them to complete a suggestion form to provide you with one red-hot idea that will make your business sizzle. Award a brand new grill and / or grill set to the customer making the most useful suggestion. ...Your EmployeesPlace your employees on teams and challenge each team to come up with their own barbecue sauce recipe. Don’t let them cheat by looking up a recipe online! Give each team a cutting board, knives and bowls. Then, allow each team to visit a supply table with an assortment of ingredients they can use to make their sauce, including bases (such as catsup and mustard), sweeteners (such as brown sugar, honey and molasses), flavorings (such as vinegar, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce and spices) and produce (such as lemons, limes, garlic and jalapenos). In addition to making the sauce, each team must also come up with a name for their sauce and create a poster and team commercial to sell their product. Ensure teams make enough for everyone to taste. Then, once all of the sauces are complete, have each team present their poster and commercial. Next, serve up lunch (such as chicken and pulled pork) and allow each person to sample the different sauces. Invite employees to vote for his or her favorite sauce, but don’t allow them to vote for their own team’s sauce. The employees on the team getting the most votes, wins a barbecue-themed prize! ...Your Friends & FamilyProvide each of your guests with a plain white apron to decorate at your backyard barbecue with items such as permanent markers, glue, pom-poms, glitter, etc. This could just be for fun, or ask guests to vote for their favorite apron and award a prize to the person getting the most votes. Want a less expensive, but yummier option? Invite guests to decorate their own post-barbecue dessert. Set out plain cupcakes and invite guests to decorate them with pastry bags filled with colored frosting, different colored sprinkles, nuts, candy, etc. Once again, this could just be for fun. Or, if people can keep from eating them right away, ask guests to vote for their favorite before dessert is consumed! Want to turn up the heat at your 4th of July barbecue? Get guest’s brains simmering with our sister company’s do-it-yourself Patriotic Hunt, or Hunt For Me Stars activity found at http://www.mastersofthehunt.com/holiday-scavenger-hunts.php.
