Our mission: To educate 2,500 pharmaceutical reps during an at-sea day on a week-long charter of the world’s biggest cruise ship for a training at sea. Was it a challenge? Actually, it was 30 challenges! That’s how many mental, physical and creative activities teams participated in throughout the ship. Some challenges, such as climbing Liberty of the Seas’ rock wall and surfing FlowRider were designed to allow teams to experience the ship. Others, such as solving clues using company information, or rewriting lyrics to integrate drug information into a song that was performed in the Karaoke bar reinforced training information. If the group didn’t like the activity, they could have thrown us overboard. But, fortunately for us it was smooth sailing!
Our orders were to get the civilians and military personnel in this group to interact, learn more about the history of the organization and have a good time. And, when a General says,
This better be fun, it better be fun! Mission accomplished! Teams went to war in trivia, music, visual and physical challenges customized to reflect their message. Participants showed off their quick reflexes as they were told to dive for beach balls being bounced around the room. In fact, the team building activity was such a success; we were drafted to execute even more activities for the organization.
